A Nosh and a Show
That certainly covers it. I'm not one to post pictures of my meals, but this one's special. I don't often get to have one of my Kosher favorites, but yesterday, before I went to Broadway, I had lunch at Ben's deli on 38th. Beef chopped liver, rich and sweet, on fresh rye. It was delicious and deeply satisfying in a way that's hard for me to understand.
Then off to see "Hand To God" which is about a teenager who's lost his father and is "dealing" with the loss through his possessed (and extremely vulgar) sock puppet. I won't go into details, but suffice it to say that the show was hilarious and serious at the same time. I highly recommend seeing it if you're in town or it tours.
Tomorrow it's back to posts which aren't so much about me. Thanks for watching!

A Day at the Met
I spent yesterday at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I ignored the everything else and went right for the musical instrument collection hoping to see something new to me and about the only thing really interesting was a double manual Bosendorfer piano.
After that it went to to my favorite painting school, the Impressionists. I'll share three of my favorites.
I love Monet's waterlily series.
My daughter started her stage career as a dancer, so Degas' Little Dancer holds special meaning for me.
I've been trying to make it to Chicago to see Seurat's A Sunday on La Grande Jatte for some time, so imagine my delight on finding that the Met had one of the studies.

Rainy NYC Monday
I took the R train up to Lexington and 5th and walked to my destination, 225 East 67th and lunch at the Jim Henson Legacy with Bonnie Erickson and Nathaniel Wharton.
After I got back to Staten Island there was dinner and shopping with our daughter. She is poised to graduate from Wagner College in a month and there's still so much to do.

Seen any good movies lately? |
So I decided to spend a few days enjoying. I'll share a few pictures and a little of what's happening. Today I'm going over to lower Manhattan and just hanging out for a while. Then dinner with said daughter.

The Skate Girls of Kabul
From Colossal...
"Australian skateboarder Oliver Percovich created the non-profit Skateistan in 2007, a grassroots project that connects youth and education through skateboarding in Afghanistan. The organization, which has since grown to an award-winning international NGO, caught the attention of London-based photographer Jessica Fulford-Dobson and inspired her to visit the program in Kabul in 2012—especially after learning 45% of the students were female."
Skateboard diplomacy is a good thing.

Incredible Egg Art Will Awe You
In Bukovina, a northern region of Romania, the Easter tradition of dyeing eggs has been elevated into an art form. Filmmaker Titus-Armand Naprilica along with production company Jungles in Paris profiles the beautiful work of Elena Craciunescu in "The Egg Painter."
Relax. You couldn't have gotten this done before Easter, anyway.

Over Population, Over Consumption In Pictures
The Guardian online asks the question, "How do you raise awareness about population explosion?"
Show it in pictures. Disturbing photos of just what we're doing to the only world we have. Not so fun fact: in 2013 the world lost an Oklahoma sized area of forest. Time to wake up, folks. Or it's lights our forever.
"If our species had started with just two people at the time of the earliest agricultural practices some 10,000 years ago, and increased by one percent per year, today humanity would be a solid ball of flesh many thousand light years in diameter, and expanding with a radial velocity that, neglecting relativity, would be many times faster than the speed of light." - Gabor Zovanyi

Sprawling Mexico City rolls across the landscape, displacing every scrap of natural habitat |
