Biodegradable Fibers As Strong As Steel Made From Wood Cellulose

Scientists at Stockholm's KTH Royal Institute of Technology have apparently found a way to use cellulose to make a material stronger than steel. The discovery makes it possible to replace substance such as fiberglass, plastic, and metal with a fibrous material that would biodegrade over time.

The real kicker - this stuff only requires water, wood cellulose and common table salt to create it.
