Corrugated Steel for Housing

I was looking through the website Inspiration Green and found this article on using corrugated metals in housing.

As the article states..."corrugated metal's assets make up slightly for that initial harm. Metal sheets or rolls are lightweight, portable, corrosion-resistant, durable, economical, low maintenance, fire and storm resistant, very long lasting and easy to recycle."

It can look pretty cool, too.

Warren King - Cardboard Virtuoso

I was surfing along, minding my own business, when I came across the work of Warren King, which I will now share with you. I love cardboard and think that it is a vastly underrated material. Mr. King helps to prove my point.

The New Hampshire Rebellion

Found this on Boing Boing....

"On Sunday, January 11th, two years to the day after we lost Aaron Swartz, a small group of warmly dressed souls will begin a walk from Dixville Notch, New Hampshire, to Concord. When they reach Concord, ten days and 150 miles later, they will be met by three other much larger groups that had begun walks from Keene, Nashua, and Portsmouth during the following week. In Concord, on the 5th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision, which gave birth, indirectly, to the SuperPAC, the four groups will join a much bigger rally to demand our democracy back."

"This is the New Hampshire Rebellion, a group that aims to rally the citizens of New Hampshire to ask presidential candidates in the 2016 New Hampshire primary the central question for American politics: How are you going to end the system of corruption in Washington."

Lucy, you got some 'splainin' to do.

Cut Your Own Vinyl Phonograph Record

From Gizmag comes an announcement of the arrival of desktop vinyl record production. That's right, soon you'll be able create your own examples of low-fidelity, limited dynamic range, easy-to-ruin, obsolete media that was the preferred method of listening to music employed by the 1960's era teenager.

Until 8-track tapes came around. Oh, and then cassettes.

Having seen the recording industry go from analog to digital, up close and personal like, I'll stick to digital media with high sample and bit rates.

Oh and the cost of this wonderful new (old) technology? $6,500 right now, but the aim is to bring is down to $3,500.

Rocket Boys of BU

Here's a bunch of folks doing something interesting. From Gizmag.....

"Partly funded by a Kickstarter campaign, students at Boston University are developing an inexpensive suborbital rocket for educational purposes that uses new engine designs to create a cheaper, reusable suborbital rocket that's easier on the payload."

Scheduled to fly in July 2015, the "Starscraper," is a 30 feet long and weighs 1,100 lb and is designed to lift a 100 pound payload to an altitude of just over 82 miles, then return it to Earth.

Want to buy in? Click HERE for their Kickstarter campaign. Hurry, there's less than three days to go!
